How to Turn Photos and Screenshots Into One PDF

One tidy PDF is easier to send, print and file than a stack of loose pictures. It takes just a few steps.

When you need it

Job and visa applications, insurance claims, school assignments and expense reports often ask for a single PDF. If your documents are photographs from a phone, you will need to combine them yourself.

Choose the right tool

Step by step

  1. Take clear photos of every page, flat and straight on, in good light.
  2. Add them to the tool.
  3. Drag them into the right order.
  4. Choose a page size such as A4 or Letter.
  5. Create the PDF and download it.

Tips for a clean result

  • Put the page on a dark, plain surface so the edges are easy to see.
  • Avoid shadows from your phone or hand.
  • Crop out the background before you build the PDF.
  • Rotate sideways photos first.

If the PDF is too big

Photo-based PDFs can get large. Resize the photos before you combine them, or run the finished PDF through the compress PDF tool. Our guide to shrinking PDFs has more advice.

Page size and orientation

A4 is the standard in most countries, and Letter in the United States and Canada. Pick the one that matches where the document will be printed or submitted. If a few photos are wide, rotate them first so they fill the page rather than leaving big white margins.

Order matters

Many online forms and reviewers read the file from the first page to the last, so a logical order saves questions. Put the main page first and supporting pages after it. Check the order in the preview before you create the PDF.

Privacy

Documents like IDs and bills are sensitive. Lightbench builds the PDF in your browser, so your pictures are never uploaded to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Can I mix JPG and PNG?

Yes. The image to PDF tool takes mixed formats.

Will the PDF look the same on every device?

Yes. A PDF keeps its layout, which is why it is preferred for documents.

Is there a page limit?

The limit is your device memory. Very big batches may be slow on older phones.
