Why use this tool

A GIF is a small looping animation that plays almost everywhere, in chats, emails and web pages, with no player needed. This tool builds the GIF inside your browser, so your pictures are never sent to a server and the result has no watermark.

Tips for best results

  • Use pictures with the same shape. Otherwise choose a shape and let them fill the frame.
  • Keep the width around 480 px for chats and social posts. A smaller width gives a much smaller file.
  • For a smooth animation, use 80 to 120 ms per frame. For a slideshow, use 500 ms or more.
  • If the file is too big, use fewer frames, a smaller width or 64 colours.
  • Choose "Play forward, then backward" for a smooth back-and-forth loop.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use an animated GIF as a frame?

Only its first picture is used. Add separate pictures for each frame you want.

Why is my GIF so big?

GIF files store every frame, and they get large quickly with photos. Try a smaller width, fewer colours or fewer frames.

Can the GIF have a transparent background?

Yes. Choose "Show the whole picture" and turn on Transparent background. Pictures with see-through areas, such as PNGs, will keep them.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The GIF is built in your browser and your pictures stay on your device.
