Add text to image

Write on any photo. Choose the font and colour, drag the words where you want them, and add a box behind them so they stay easy to read.

How to use Add text to image

  1. Add the photo you want to write on.
  2. Type up to three pieces of text. Each one is its own line you can move.
  3. Choose a font and colour. Add a dark or light box if the words are hard to read.
  4. Save the picture as JPG, PNG or WebP.

Why use this tool

Sometimes you only want to put a few words on a photo: a quote, a label, a date or a name. This tool does exactly that, without the extras. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no upload. The words are drawn onto the picture in your browser.

Tips for best results

  • Use a dark box with white text on busy photos. It is easier to read than a thin outline.
  • Turn "All capitals" off for quotes and names.
  • Keep text away from the edges so it does not get cropped when you post the picture.
  • Use PNG when the text must stay sharp.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add a watermark with this?

You can add your name or website as one of the text lines and drag it to a corner. A smaller size and a light box work well.

Can I use my own font?

Not yet. You can choose between four built-in styles.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser and your picture never leaves your device.
